San Jose is located on the south shore of San Francisco Bay, about 30-40 minutes drive from San Francisco. It is the central city of Silicon Valley, where many high-tech engineering, computer and microprocessor-related companies are concentrated, and is the self-proclaimed “Capital of Silicon Valley,” the leading world city in the western United States.
Silicon Valley
Silicon Valley is the common name for the Santa Clara Valley and the surrounding area, located in the southern part of the San Francisco Bay Area. San Jose is located in one corner of the valley and is home to famous large companies such as Adobe. Google, which has its headquarters base in a nearby city, is also vigorously expanding its base in San Jose, the heart of Silicon Valley.

Plaza de Cesar Chavez is the oldest public space in Northern California. Located in the heart of downtown, it is a lovely plaza with landscaped flowerbeds and beautiful fountains to enjoy the sunshine. Adjacent to the square are museums and other attractions for more things to do. The open-air theater hosts live concerts and other events. The food and music festivals held in the square are also among the most popular events.
Winchester Mystery House
The most famous tourist attraction in San Jose, the Winchester Mystery House is a so-called haunted building. The mansion has been under constant construction for 38 years and is rumored to be cursed. The mansion was the private residence of Sarah Winchester, the widow of William Wilt Winchester, a successful gun businessman, and is now a tourist attraction. Under Sarah’s direction, construction of the mansion continued around the clock, 365 days a year, until her death 38 years later on September 5, 1922. According to popular belief, Sarah Winchester was convinced that the mansion was haunted by the spirits of those killed by the Winchester guns, and that the only way to escape the hauntings that were expected to happen to the mansion was to keep building and preparing hidden rooms and secret passages. The interior of the mansion, which has been continuously expanded without any plan, is like a maze, and there are many places you can’t get through without scrambling and twisting.

There are many places downtown that are worth visiting. The San Jose Museum of Art is a bright, open-air museum where you can learn about contemporary art and the history of San Jose. The SAP Center is a gorgeous glass-walled indoor arena that hosts many famous entertainers and artists, as well as a variety of sports games. Another popular attraction is the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum, where visitors can experience the ruins of ancient Egypt. ︎Municipal Rose Garden
A garden of lush green lawns and colorful roses, started in the 1930s and still operated by the city of San Jose, with more than 4,000 roses of 189 varieties blooming on a half-acre (about 2,025 square meters). The park is open from April to November, with the best season being early May. You can even hold your wedding ceremony surrounded by roses. The fountain right in the middle of the park is a popular photo spot. There is also a whole lawn next to the park. The area around the park is a residential area lined with houses and full of greenery.
